The processes of making these two narratives took me quite long because I had to brainstorm my ideas and be sure that they were sci-fi, but after I fished everything I felt really proud of my work because I worked really hard on it so that in the end all my effort was worth it.
One of the narratives that were needed for my science fiction story was the traditional narrative, this narrative was the most significant because it's were my story was created. First, I brainstormed all my ideas and arranged them into different categories that were social issue, characters, settings, sci-fi elements, conflict, and the resolution. Then I put them in small paragraphs that were really descriptive, there I also told my introduction, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution this is also known as plot. After finishing the plot I typed my story with much more detail and tried to give the reader an interesting conflict, also I added some narrative techniques like imagery and foreshadowing. Imagery was were the writer adds a lot of description of something so that the reader thinks it's real. Foreshadowing is when the author gives a clue of what is going to happen in future events. Just to make sure that my story was well written and with no grammar mistakes, I decided to choose 2 people to peer edit my story. I didn't had much errors but they were really helpful to point out my mistakes and make my story even better by giving me ideas and ways to make my story more interesting and fun to read. In the other hand, the digital narrative was a little harder because it was all about finding the right application for my video. I had to also think of the sound and how I would make it fit with the scenes and voices. I had to really play with the app and try to find the right way to use it, and know all the things it was capable of doing. In my case I used powtoon because it's much easier for me and faster, in powtoon there's a lot of things you can do like record your voice, add photos, add sounds and put effects. This narrative had a lot of challenges because I had to draw all my scenes and tried to make them as much as similar to my story. Another thing that was challenging was trying to record my voice and make it fit with the sound and scenes. Finally publish it and send it. As we have seen, both of the narratives are really essential for everything, mainly for sharing a story or for starting one. Although these narratives are different they do have similar things like: brainstorming, because in both of them you have to plan something to get ideas, like for example in the traditional narrative I had to brainstorm my ideas in order to create my sci-fi story which was linked with the plot, and in my digital narrative I had to search which application went well with my scenes. Another thing that I mentioned before was the plot and the storyboard, the plot was for my traditional narrative and it was really helpful to organize my story because in there I had to think about how I was going to arrange my story in these categories like exposition, rising action, climax, falling action and resolution. While in the storyboard I had to draw and explain what was going in each scene, that include the sound, the images and my voice. Finally, we all have seen that these narratives had some challenges and some pleasures. Everything that we do in life would be challenging and hard but after all the hard work, the results are amazing and worth it. Some of the difficulties that I had with the traditional narrative was, starting with a story because I had to find the right characters that went well with my story and that they knew how to manage and fix the problem, also I had to think of a conflict and resolution, I always have trouble trying to figure out a perfect story and that's because I think way too much and I always get a bunch of ideas that I want to implement in my story but of course I have to choose only one. Another difficulty was trying to put the sci-fi element in my story. One of the pleasures that I had making this narrative was creating something that no one had ever seen or read. And finally, with the digital narrative I did have some difficulties with finding the right app that really went well with my story. Also the making of the scenes was challenging because I had to draw them all. The pleasure of working with this narrative was the succeed after making each scene with the right illustration of the story. In conclusion, I really liked working with these narratives because although there were some difficulties there's always something to be proud of. I learned a lot of things and the most important was being able to connect everything so that my project would turn out great and original. looking for Alaska |
In this link you will find information about Looking for Alaska written by John Green, this novel is one of my favorites because it has a lot of mystery and drama. Also it really connects to the real world because of all the teenagers drinking alcohol, finding first love and the great perhaps.
